LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- A big goof by a state agency has exposed nearly 50,000 Californians to the risk of identity theft. The Department of Health Care Services mailed letters last week to members of an adult day-care program, which showed their Social Security numbers alongside their names and addresses on the envelopes.
The Department says it's sorry for the security breach, and it's telling everyone involved to put a fraud-alert on their credit files as a precaution.
