People's Choice Awards: Who Won



LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP)  -- Actor Ashton Kutcher, creator of the "Race to a Million" on Twitter, was named favorite web celeb at the People's Choice Awards ceremony held Wednesday evening at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

But the top award of the night- favorite actor of the decade - went to Johnny Depp, who has won more People's Choice awards than any other actor.

Sacha Baron Cohen, appearing as himself and not as his alter-egos Borat or Bruno, presented Depp with a special award as favorite movie actor of the decade.

"The only reason that any of us are up here is because of you," Depp told the audience.

Taylor Lautner, one of the three wildly popular stars of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" took home the breakthrough actor.

Vampires sucked up a number of trophies. "The Twilight Saga" won four trophies, including favorite movie, franchise and on-screen team for the dreamy trio of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

The undead HBO fable "True Blood" and the soapy supernatural CW series "The Vampire Diaries" were respectively selected as favorite TV obsession and favorite new TV drama.

Sandra Bullock was named favorite actress and her comedy "The Proposal," which also starred Ryan Reynolds, took home the first award of the night at the beginning of the ceremony, broadcast on CBS.

Talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres took home her 11th People's Choice award.
"Glee" was chosen as best new comedy and " The Big Bang Theory" was named best comedy. Steve Carrell won the award for best actor in a comedy. and Hugh Laurie won the award for best actor in a drama. Favorite action star was actor Hugh Jackman.

Among music award winners were Mariah Carey (best R&B) and Carrie Underwood (best country singer) Keith Urban (best male vocalist) and Taylor Swift (best female vocalist).

Fans cast more than 60 million votes to choose the winners in 30 categories including favorite action star, favorite on-screen team, favorite music collaboration and favorite animal show.


Queen Latifah, hosting for the fourth consecutive year, opened the program with a musical number. Mary J. Blige and Cobra Starship with Nicole Scherzinger also performed.

Throughout the show, Latifah appeared in spoofs of "Twilight" and "Paranormal Activity," which featured a cameo by Cloris Leachman clad in a sexy leather ensemble.

The new cast of this season's heroes vs. villains game of "Survivor" was announced by "Survivor" host Jeff Probst. Sneak peeks of the upcoming films "Clash of the Titans" and "Robin Hood" were shown.shown.
