LAKESIDE (AP) -- Authorities say a man believed to be armed with a gun has apparently fired shots and barricaded himself inside a tribal gaming office at the Barona Indian casino northeast of San Diego.
San Diego County sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Plese (Pless) says witnesses reported hearing three shots fired but it's not known if anyone has been hurt.
Plese says the gunman is believed to be a former Barona Casino and Resort employee fired last month for unknown reasons. She says the man entered the office of the tribal gaming commission around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff's Lt. Julie Sutton says the man reportedly took several people hostage but then quickly let them go.
Casino general manager Rick Salinas says the incident does not involve the actual casino and everyone there is safe.
