'Courage' Named Grand Marshal Of Disneyland Parade
ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBS) ― Courage, the lucky turkey pardoned by President Obama at the White House Wednesday, will serve as the honorary grand marshal of Thursday's Thanksgiving Parade at Disneyland.
Courage will be joined by his alternate, Carolina. The two will spend the rest of their lives at Santa's Reindeer Round-up at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland.
The turkeys arrived at LAX Wednesday aboard a United Airlines flight dubbed Turkey 1.
Courage is a 20-week-old, 45-pound tom turkey, raised on a farm in Goldsboro, N.C., under the supervision of Walter Pelletier, the chairman of the National Turkey Federation and secretary-treasurer of Butterball, LLC, the nation's largest turkey producer.
This is the fifth consecutive year the National Thanksgiving Turkey has been taken to a Disney resort after being pardoned.
