DOWNEY (CBS) -- A Norwalk man was behind bars Tuesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run where a Buena Park man was dragged some 300 feet in Downey to his death according to authorities.
Alex Copeland, 23, of Norwalk, turned himself in at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, nearly eighteen hours after a fight and attack outside the Shuttle Inn at 9067 Imperial Highway, Downey Police said.
Copeland is accused of allegedly hitting the man and dragging him several feet to his death.
The 35-year-old man was found dead and lying face down on Lakewood Boulevard near Rose Avenue. The man's name has not been released.
Copeland was booked Monday night and held on $1.5 million bail according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records.
Copeland is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Downey Superior Court and is expected to be charged on suspicion of murder.
