LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Officials said there was no threat aboard a United Airlines Flight 22 that was cleared of passengers in Los Angeles after a man ran to the restroom just before takeoff.
Los Angeles International Airport police said the passenger defied a flight attendant's order to remain seated because he urgently needed to use the restroom. The man was taken off the aircraft on Monday morning and passengers were removed while authorities searched the plane.
LAX police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb said nothing was found on the plane, nor in the baggage of the man and his companion.
No threats were made and the FBI said no charges were expected to be filed.
United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said the flight is scheduled to take off in the afternoon. It is bound for Cairo with a scheduled stop at JFK International Airport in New York.
