LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- Thousands of LA County residents are signing up to get emergency alerts by e-mail and text message.
The alerts will provide information about an emergency and any necessary actions, such as evacuations.
Land-line numbers are already programmed into the County's reverse nine-one-one system; but the public must register cell phones, e-mail and Voice Over Internet Protocol lines.
