LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- Don't get in trouble on the road this July 4th Holiday weekend!
The California Highway Patrol began a maximum enforcement period Friday night to help crack down on drunk driving, speeding and other traffic offenses.
The 54-hour operation started at 6 p.m. and will end Sunday at midnight.
Last year, 41 people died on California roads during the 4th of July weekend -- almost half of them were not wearing a seatbelt.
