LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- The countdown's on... and people are holding their noses while waiting for the "Son of Stinky" to bloom. The Huntington Library and Garden in San Marino has a rare corpse-flower that's about to bloom in all its smell glory. It's the offspring of one that bloomed seven years ago, and it has the overpowering smell of rotting flesh.
Kew is the Royal Botanical Garden in England. The maroon-colored flower is expected to bloom sometime between today and Sunday. It's a VERY rare event, recorded only 50 times in the US.
