Pete Demetriou is a native Angelino and he brings a unique knowledge and perspective to listeners. Pete’s drive and intensity has made him a premier radio field reporter.
A UCLA graduate, Pete worked at the campus radio station before working at KPFK, KPCC, KLAC for 7 years as an anchor and field reporter - before walking in the door - and right into a seat in a mobile unit at KFWB in 1985. Since February 2009, Pete’s reporting is heard on both KFWB and KNX.
Stories like the Cerritos Air Disaster, the Whittier, Mexico City, Loma Prieta, Landers and Northridge Earthquakes, work as a correspondent in the 1991 Persian Gulf War, the 1992 LA Riots, the OJ Simpson Bronco Chase, street protests at the 2000 Democratic National Convention and coverage of more brush fires and police actions than he can remember, have garnered him 15 RTNA Golden Mikes and a host of other honors.
Outside of work, when he’s out of range of pagers and cell phones, Pete enjoys bike riding, freshwater fishing in the Sierras and Cascades and a love of classic and modern jazz fusion music.
