Larry Van Nuys

KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO anchor Larry Van Nuys has had a diverse and distinguished career in broadcasting winning and contributing to countless awards including an Emmy Award for his hosting work for the nationally syndicated Rose Parade. He has been written about in Newsweek, TV Guide and Readers Digest in addition to many other publications for hosting Help Thy Neighbor which was a live, daily show on KTLA-TV in L.A. Larry has also received a great deal of recognition as the co-host of the National Arthritis Telethon.

In the world of broadcasting, he has worked as staff as well as a contract voice. In radio he has been heard on such formidable powerhouses in Los Angeles as KMPC, KABC, KCBS, and KFI and has served as the signature voice for KTLA-TV and KCOP-TV. In the national arena, Larry has been the prime voice-talent for television stations that include most of the top 30 markets. To give you some examples . . . WPSG-TV Philadelphia, WSBK-TV Boston, WDCA-TV Washington DC, KTXA-TV Dallas, KTXH-TV Houston, WUPA-TV Atlanta, WBFS-TV Miami, KSTW-TV Seattle, WKBD-TV Detroit and WTOG-TV in Tampa.

As a commercial talent, Larry has been heard on countless radio and TV spots for such major advertisers as Adidas, Bank of America, Chevron, Disneyland, KFC, Mazda, Michelob, Sony, US West and McDonalds. He has done a myriad of industrial projects as well for accounts such as McDonnell Douglas, Dodge, Coca Cola, Chrysler, Mattel, Toshiba and Chevrolet.

Larry has been busy working in national television both in the promo area as well as for specific shows. He was the voice of such network successes as Dynasty, The Love Boat, and Vegas among many others as well as more recent offerings such as Star Trek DS9, Real Stories of the Highway Patrol, Tic Tac Dough, Dennis Miller (NNTE), and the Fox Sports Nets. And, speaking of sports, as the voice of so many television stations that are sports intensive, he has voiced thousands of promos for major league teams in almost every sports category.

Film marketing has also been a part of LarryÕs vast experience, including such hits as Robo Cop, Total Recall, Rambo, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Prince of Tides, Basic Instinct and Alien.

Along the way he has served as an executive in advertising as well as the music industry. Larry was the Promotion Director (West Coast) for Warner Brothers Records and spent time as the Creative Director for a small boutique advertising agency serving the fashion industry.

Larry lives with his wife Marsha in the Los Angeles suburb of Westlake Village and enjoys a variety of activities in his free time. He is a licensed pilot, a decent golfer and truly a man of many talents!
