Jack Salvatore

Jack Salvatore joined KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO in 1984, coming over from WCKY in Cincinnati, where he had been morning drive-anchor. In his debut year in Los Angeles, Jack wrote, produced and narrated three documentaries for the monthly KNX Assignment series, which went on to win the coveted "duPont-Columbia University" journalism award's Silver Baton, just one of the dozens of national and regional awards to his credit.

In 2005, Jack won the Associated Press Television-Radio Association of California and Nevada award for "Best Regularly Scheduled Feature."

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Jack's broadcast career began in the US Army, where he was graduated from the Defense Information School, and did a tour for the American Forces Korea Network. After military service, Jack landed a spot as a TV reporter for WKBN in Youngstown, Ohio. Within a year, he had moved up to become solo anchor of the 6PM newscast, and co-anchor of the 11PM. From there, Jack's career took him to the beautiful city of New Orleans, where he went to work for WWL radio as morning AND afternoon anchor. When WGSO in New Orleans went to an all-news format, Jack was tapped as morning co-anchor.

Jack has actually been a "working professional" since about the age of 7. His first job was on Broadway, in the original production of "Damn Yankees". As a teenager, he was in the first touring company of "Bye Bye Birdie". His love of musical theater has kept him acting, over the years, in lead roles in "The Fantasticks", "Funny Girl", "Fiddler on the Roof", "The King and I", "The Music Man", and many others.

His wife, Beryl, a New Orleans native, is the campus nurse at a local college. His daughter, Hilary, a magna cum laude graduate of Cal State Northridge, is a working actress. And his son, Jack, Jr., is following in Dad's footsteps. He's been a working actor since the age of 5, appearing in commercials, TV and film.
