LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- A woman who survived polio, and more than 50 years in an iron lung, has been killed by a power outage. 61 year-old Dianne Odell died at her home in Tennessee. When the power went out, her family could not get an emergency generatorworking in time to keep her breathing.
Relatives say, even though Odell was stuck inside the 750 pound machine, she managed to get a high school diploma, take college courses and write a children's book.
