Actor Says He Didn't Get Bonuses He Was Promised

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) -- Tommy Lee Jones is suing the makers of the Oscar-winning film "No Country for Old Men" for more than 10 million dollars.
In his lawsuit against Paramount Pictures, the 61-year-old actor claims he was promised "significant box-office bonuses" and other compensation depending on the film's success. The movie went on to win four 2008 Academy Awards, including the prize for best motion picture, and took in more than 160 million dollars worldwide.
Jones, who played Sheriff Ed Tom Bell in the movie, claims he was not paid the bonuses and that his expenses were wrongly deducted.
Jones, who has an Academy Award of his own as Best Supporting Actor in the 1994 movie "The Fugitive," says he was paid a reduced upfront fee when he joined "No Country For Old Men" -- and says his contract had known errors, that weren't corrected before the movie was made.
He's asking that an auditor be named to review the financial records, to determine how much he should be paid. |
