Mike Landa joined KNX NEWSRADIO in 1969. He's one of two general assignment reporters at the Orange County Bureau. Mike's covered a variety of stories on his beat, ranging from the O.C. bankruptcy, the OJ Simpson child custody case, to a number of high profile murder trials.
Born and educated in Alhambra, he graduated from California State University Los Angeles. He has done post graduate study at California State University Fullerton where he has also taught broadcast journalism classes.
Since joining KNX, Landa has won an enviable collection of awards, including: six Golden Mikes, the DuPont-Columbia University Award, the George Foster Peabody Broadcast Award, the Greater Los Angeles Press Club Award, Clarion Award for Best Documentary, the California Associated Press Television and Radio Association Certificate of Excellence, the Freedoms Foundation Vally Forge Honor Certificate, the San Francisco State University Broadcast Journalism Award and two Golden Mike Merit Awards for best Hard News Series Reporting and Best Documentary.
When not reporting for KNX, Mike enjoys photography, computers and classical music.
He lives in Orange County with his wife Valerie and has two daughters and three step sons.
