Jim Thornton, one of the most popular and distinct voices in Southern California, began hosting KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO's afternoon drive newscast in January 2005. Prior to that, Jim had been KNX's morning drive since June 1993. He has been heard on KNX since 1985 when, with Metro Traffic, his reports were also heard on other radio stations in the market.

A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Jim began his broadcasting career in 1985. He holds a degree in linguistics from Marshall University and in his spare time enjoys singing, doing voice-over work and spending time with his wife, Susan, whom he met when she was doing a newspaper story on traffic reporters.
