(CBS) - As firefighters work Tuesday to broaden their containment of the blaze, residents of a Sylmar mobile home park that was all but wiped off the map by the 11,207-acre Sayre Fire are expected to be given open access to the site.

About 1,300 firefighters remain assigned to the brush fire, which was 64 percent contained Monday night, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Since the outbreak of the blaze about 10:30 p.m. Friday, more than 600 structures have been destroyed, including about 480 modular homes at the Oakridge Mobile Home Park, along with nine single-family homes, 104 outbuildings and 10 commercial buildings, according to county fire officials.

Only about 125 homes at Oakbridge were left standing.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On Monday, Oakridge residents whose mobile homes were spared by the flames were briefly allowed to return to the site to grab items such as medicine and clothing.

Residents whose homes were ravaged by the blaze were taken through the area on city buses Monday to view the ruins of a community once described as "the Beverly Hills of mobile-home parks."

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said mobile home park residents whose homes were still standing would be allowed to return to the park beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, while those whose homes were destroyed will have free access to the area at noon.

Until Monday, residents had been prevented from returning so workers and search dogs could comb through the rubble to determine if anyone died in the blaze, said Capt. Ed Winter of the coroner's office.

Winter said no human remains were found in the ashes, but cadaver dogs
did track down the ashes of someone who had passed away several years ago.

"The resident actually walked into (a police station) and said, `I am fine. I'm here ...,"' Winter said. "Her husband had passed away several years ago, and his remains were there at the space ... his ashes."

Officials were still trying to find residents of about 200 units who have not yet checked in with police.

Five firefighters and one civilian were injured by the fire, though none seriously, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

More than 100 outbuildings burned on the campus of the Olive View Medical Center, which was without electricity for several hours early Saturday.

Driven by fierce Santa Ana winds that reached up to 80 mph, the fire at one point threatened 7,500 structures, and 10,000 residents were evacuated, said county fire Inspector Sam Padilla.
