LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Click HERE to see photo gallery: Getty Center Brush Fire
The Getty Center art complex remains closed but nearby Mount St. Mary's College is back in business as Los Angeles firefighters work on remnants of a Santa Monica Mountains brush fire that forced evacuations of both institutions.
Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says Thursday that 80-acre burn area is 90 percent surrounded.
The fire erupted Wednesday afternoon less than a mile from the Getty, which houses a world renowned art collection.
Hundreds of visitors and staffers were cleared from the Getty. Mount St. Mary's, which is not in session, sent away staff and a group that was attending a conference. The fire, however, burned away from the institutions.
The Getty remains closed because a freeway off-ramp to its parking area is still closed.
