LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- Don't bother going to the DMV today...it's closed as more than 200,000 state employees have the day off without pay. This is the first of 12 straight weeks the state will shut down on Fridays. Between holidays and furlough days, some state workers will not work a five-day week again until the end of January.
Orange County courts will close early today...they've been falling behind on paperwork because of their furlough days. Closing at 3 p.m. will give court workers a chance to catch up.
