Family Adopts Wandering Pony Found In Norwalk
|
DOWNEY (CBS) ―A wandering Shetland pony found earlier this month walking along a Norwalk street will be adopted by a Riverside County family Thursday authorities said.
"Big Boy" was spotted near Studebaker Road and Hayford Street in Norwalk on Dec. 3, said Aaron Reyes, director of the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority in Downey.
Animal control officials were unable to locate its owner and how it ended up in Norwalk.
After hearing about the pony, Joe Sandoval, who has a ranch in Homeland, between Perris and Hemet in Riverside County, inquired about adopting it.
"Mr. Sandoval was very diligent in keeping in touch with us, even sending us photos of his property and his animals," Reyes said. "His two daughters, 17 and 13, love horses and begged him to call us to adopt Big Boy," he said.
Sandoval's youngest daughter is in a wheelchair Reyes said.
"I cannot wait to see the look in her eyes when she meets the pony. I hear she's quite the horse charmer," Reyes said.
