Award-winning anchor Bob Brill returned to KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO in 2006 after a 20 year absence. The former national correspondent and Los Angeles bureau chief for the UPI Radio Network has been a radio broadcaster and journalist since 1972. He's covered a wide variety of stories from national political conventions to Academy Awards shows to the western White House during the Reagan years.
In his early career Bob worked all over the southwestern United States including Tulsa, El Paso, Prescott, and Palm Springs, Fresno and Bakersfield. He became news director at the latter two. He returned to Los Angeles to work for the L.A. Times and eventually became a full-time correspondent with UPI Radio. There, with future CBS Newsman Bob Fuss, the pair became a formidable team covering the Western USA through Asia.
Bob has traveled to 27 countries and his love for travel has not only led him to write extensively about other lands but also to develop a language website. He currently owns the website www.mytravelbabble.com specializing in teaching travelers how to communicate abroad.
Bob also completed the first of three books on former burlesque queen Patti Waggin and her husband Don Rudolph who was a major league baseball player in the 1950’s and 1960’s. “Fan Letters to a Stripper: A Patti Waggin Tale” hit book store shelves world wide in the summer of 2009. Two more books are planned. Bob’s website www.pattiwaggin.com has details. He has also completed the first of several detective novels.
A longtime sports fan and writer, Bob has covered five Super Bowls along with NBA Finals and World Series games. In 1996 Bob took a 10 year hiatus from radio to concentrate on his sports collectibles business and other projects including writing. He became known as the industry watch-dog and still writes a weekly investigative blog for www.sportsbuy.com. A coffee table book on China that he worked on with his photographer son, Bobby, has yet to be published. "China: Ever Changing, Never Changing" highlights the vast nation moving into the 21st century.
Bob lives in Ventura with his wife who has put up with him for more than 30 years. Claudia is a schoolteacher. The couple has three grown children who live in various places around the world.
