Advisories & Warnings

As thirteen fires continue to burn throughout Southern California, there are several other warnings and advisories to be concerned with.

There is a high wind warning in Los Angeles County through 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 23 and through 6 p.m. Monday, October 22 (today) in San Diego County.

Eye-stinging, choking smoke from wildfires raging throughout the southern half of California has led to health advisories for residents far from the flames.

The sun disappeared behind smoke enveloping many areas yesterday and the South Coast Air Quality Management District is warning unhealthy levels of fine particulates would foul the skies again today.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities in the smoke-impacted areas.

And, fierce winds raking Southern California are expected to intensity today and continue at least through tomorrow.

The National Weather Service says there were hurricane-force gusts to 78 miles an hour yesterday in the Newhall Pass and Port Hueneme.

In Fremont Canyon southeast of Yorba Linda, gusts were clocked at 86 miles an hour. Whitaker Peak near Castaic Lake had a 108 miles an hour gust and Laguna Peak near Point Mugu recorded a 111 miles an hour gust.
